New Years in Dali, China

So peaceful in the water park around the Pagoda's.  All Chinese people entered the park free today....many families come on New Years to worship the large golden Buddha.Happy New Years from Dali,China. People know how to throw a good party...that would be for 7 days. It should still be the New Year celebration when we arrive in Vietnam this week.

The view from our very fancy hotel in Dali

We visited three Buddist Pagoda....800 to 1,000 years old.
Beautiful setting with the snow capped mountains.

Clear blue skies!

The people of this area are so proud of this beautiful
park built a few years ago .

Touching this bit pot is suppose to bring good luck.
1,000 years ago, food was stored in the pot.

One can overlook the entire area at the top of this
building...beautiful site.

This sweet lady let me take her picture.
This is the typical dress that they always wear.

Grandma and Papa with their grandbaby girl.

So peaceful in the water park around the Pagoda's.
All Chinese people entered the park free  today....many families

Typical dress for these young girls....Bai girls with "white" skin
Papa bought me some tangerines...so delicious!

We walked through Old Town this evening...so many families
having fun.  This guy is selling cotton candy.    He jacked  up the back
wheel and pumped the bicycle to get the motor to run so he could
make the cotton candy...nice round balls.

This lady was grilling flour tortilla and putting them on a stick.
See her little grill?  We didn't eat anything from the street.

We found quaint little cafe that served hamburgers...pretty tasty!
Hot water is in the cup...we are getting accustomed to hot water.

The first milk shake in China...banana....so delicious!
