Hong Kong, China

We started our tour of Hong Kong with a visit to the Temple. A very beautiful structure on the inside and the outside fits nicely in the neighborhood. The Temple has been there about 16 years. We ended our two day stay in Hong Kong with an area conference in the chapel that is located in the temple.

President Hinkley wanted Chinese antique furniture placed 
in the Temple.  This chest is 400 years old.

 Very nice chapel where we had a meeting with Elder Perkins that is
 over the Asia Area for the church.  Also houses a book store, mission offices, etc.

We are waiting for our ferry ride to take us to Hong Kong Island.

The lights in the evening were amazing.

We walked around a very fancy mall.

We visited  the  most expensive Hotel in HK (starts at ($800) 
and it was light next to our YMCA (which was very nice).

On Saturday, we had our training in the Church office building.  
Prime property on a corner, right in the middle of the business district.

This building is huge with three chapels , meeting rooms, 
office space and living quarters for the area President.

Basketball court - we used it for our classroom as we each 
gave a two minute presentation.

Back on our tour of buildings

This is the national flower, Bahenia.  We were getting 
ready to  go on a 4 hour bus tour.

Charming church - look at the cross made out of 
poinsettia and shrubs.

This is called the Kola building as it looks like Kola arms 
wrapped around the sides.  Still trying to  visualize the image.

 

I loved the corner windows of this building.

We rode to the top of the "Peak" in a tram.  We loved our lunch at
Bubba Gump's.  The view was amazing.

This is carved out of an ivory tusk...carved right in place out of one piece of ivory.

Amazing display in a story window.  It was for sale...I couldn't even read the price as it had so many zeros.
