We arrived in Seoul this afternoon a smooth flight. Our dear friend, Il Soo Shin was at the airport to greet us. It was so wonderful to see him after 30 years. He looks terrific and we just chatted for hours trying to catch up on our lives. We talked about Jung and how lonely he has been. Then he told us that he met someone and has been married for nearly two years. His wife, Kay, lives in Los Vegas and they see each other as often as possible. He will soon move to the U.S. so he can be with his wife and closer to his children, Jean and Lynna and the three grandchildren. We rode through Seoul to get a flavor of the beautiful city. We visited his office and a quick tour. He has a beautiful view from his office. Il Soo is a very important person with the government as he is in charge of the National Archives for the Arts. Give you a little idea, Friday night Il Soo is attending the New Year's Concert with the President of Korea. Took a few pictures of the city...the statue is of the man that invented the Korean written language. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a quaint restaurant that served "hot pot" of veggies, beef, dumplings cooked right in front of us. The kemchi was delicious...the red stuff in the bowls. We have only had the very hot kemchi that takes your breath away. This is spicy and delicious. Notice the shoe rack...we had to remove our shoes at the door. So happy that I didn't have holes in my socks. Il Soo drove to the top of the hill to let us view the city lights as we circled around the Presidential Palace - The Blue House. Our accommodations are at the Holiday Inn and you can enjoy the pretty Christmas tree and decorations. Our room is very nice and I can hardly wait to use the electric bidet, and the bath tub is calling my name! We have an early morning appointment with the tour company that is taking us to the DMZ and then a city tour. Il Soo will see us on Saturday and Sunday. We are going to visit his home town and meet his Mother....we are so thrilled.
Side Note From Dyana: Don't you just love all the important toilet pics Mom takes?
