Another Day for Lane's Bithday

April 14, 1942 was a great day to be born to Erma and Glen Van Tassell.   We started out in the morning to meet the Butler's for another days journey. We finished our 70 hours of celebration. Happy 70th Birthday!
We walked 20 minutes to the subway stop near our apartment.

Waiting for the subway train to arrive.

Just about our turn to get in the car...

We had to change subway lines..takes about an hour to get to our destination.

Interesting way that people carry their "goods" around.
We arrived The Bell Temple.  Lane is hitting the bell 7 times....
We had to pay some money to hear a beautiful sounding bell.

Lane and Shannon celebrated their birthdays together,

Great display of bells - centuries old

Lane is standing by the Friendship Bell donated
to China by the French in 2000

Bell donated by the French some years ago.

The old and the new.  The Temple was originally built in 1733.

This is the largest bell in China - two stories high and weighs
47 tons.    The sound can be heard 50 km away.  The bell was
cast from bronze and slid on an ice road to this Temple where
it was placed on top of a huge earth mound.  The frame
was built around the bell to hang it, then removed
the mound and built the Temple.

It is engraved with 230,000 Chinese characters

Amazing!

Over 300 bells are on display - a beautiful park

Three wise men...
